Space Word is a word game for iPhone made by Tahaa Farooq ("I", "me"). This policy explains what information the game handles and why. If you have a question about it, email iam@tahaafarooq.dev.
The short version
- There are no accounts. The game never asks for your name, email address or anything else about you.
- Your best score and settings are saved on your device and never sent to me.
- The game shows ads from Google AdMob only when you choose to watch one for an extra hint. Google collects some information to show those ads, described below.
- iOS asks your permission before your device's advertising identifier can be used for tracking. The game works the same either way.
Information stored on your device
Space Word saves your best score and your settings for music, sound effects, haptics and reduced motion. This stays on your device. I can't see it, and it's removed when you delete the app. You can also erase your best score at any time from the game's Settings screen.
Advertising
Space Word uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show rewarded ads. An ad only plays when you tap AD HINT after using a round's free hints.
To deliver and measure these ads, Google may collect:
- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location
- identifiers for your device, such as its advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking) or identifiers specific to this app or developer
- advertising data, such as which ads were shown and how you interacted with them
- crash logs and performance data from the ads SDK
Google uses this information as described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. I don't receive this information. AdMob gives me only aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown and what they earned.
Tracking permission
The first time you choose to watch an ad, iOS asks whether Space Word may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, Google can use your device's advertising identifier to show ads that are more relevant to you. If you don't, the identifier isn't shared and the ads you see may be less relevant.
You can change your choice at any time in the iPhone Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
Space Word doesn't show a separate consent form for ads. Because of that, Google may show only limited ads in these regions, or none at all.
What Space Word doesn't do
- It doesn't use analytics or crash reporting of its own.
- It doesn't access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location.
- I don't sell your personal information. Apart from the advertising described above, no information about you leaves your device.
Children
Space Word isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you have concerns about a child's use of the game, please get in touch.
Your choices and rights
- Allow or deny tracking in iOS Settings, as described above.
- Delete Space Word to remove everything it stored on your device.
- I don't hold personal information about you, so requests to access or delete advertising data should go to Google. You can manage how Google uses your information for ads at My Ad Center.
- For any other privacy question or request, email iam@tahaafarooq.dev.
Depending on where you live, for example in the EEA, the UK or California, you may have legal rights over your personal information. The steps above are how to use them for this game.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
